Like its sister shop in Omiya, Nekoya is a spacious cafe with an ample supply of cats and a proactive staff who keep them stimulated. For the benefit of visitors who like to take pictures, a few of the cats may be dressed in cute outfits, and the playroom is set up with amusing domestic tableaux.
In one corner there's a kitty bedroom furnished with a four-poster bed with curtains, and nearby is a bathtub-shaped basket with an after-bath snack of yakitori and sake set up next to it. The staff also rearrange the furniture and accessories in the playroom so that there's always something new for the cats to explore.
Vistors can browse through the manga collection, use tablet computers with wireless internet, and stretch out on comfortable reclining sofas; we even noticed one customer taking a nap. Soft drinks are priced at Y100.
