Whimsical Whale Paper Knife from Shikoku Blacksmith Forge
This charming paper knife takes the form of a friendly Bryde's whale, a species of baleen whale. The whale's lower jaw forms the blade, while its front flipper makes a sturdy thumb rest and its curved body fits snugly in the palm of the hand.

In addition to looking great on a desk, it makes a handy penknife, pencil sharpener, letter opener, craft or carpentry knife, and it's suitable for both left- and right-handed users..

Tosa Hokubo (the regional name for 'forge') is the brand name of a group of blacksmiths in Kochi Prefecture, on Shikoku Island. For 400 years, Kochi metalworkers have been honing their skills on tools, swords and cutlery. Each handmade blade embodies the tradition and history of centuries of forging and tempering technology.

The whale paper knife was originally conceived as a cute design for the blacksmith's children, but has proved popular with users of all ages.

Size: Approx. 7 inches (18cm); blade 2.5 inches (6.5 cm)
PRICE: US$34, €30
